Caster Semenya fights for her rights

Caster Semenya is one of South Africa’s national treasures when it comes to sport and fighting for your rights. So earlier this year, when the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) introduced a new rule that would force her to take medication to lower her testosterone levels the country backed the gold medalist saying this was unfair and discriminatory against her. But she is not giving up so easily.

She has teamed up with the best of the best when it comes to lawyers, Gregory Nottis. They are building up a case against the IAAF for their “discriminatory” rule.

They put out a joint statement yesterday confirming this: “This is a landmark case concerning international human rights and discrimination against women athletes with major consequences for gender rights which are jealously protected by the South African Bill of Rights…Ms Semenya will today file the legal challenge to ensure, safeguard and protect the rights of all women.”

Since then she has been posting some pretty motivational tweets on her timeline.

Good luck Caster!

Solange’s collab that no one saw coming

Solange KnowlesIkea seems to be everyone’s new favourite collaborative partner and to be honest, we don’t blame them. What does surprise us, is who the brand’s latest collaboration partner. An announcement on the website of Solange Knowles’ (yes, Beyoncé’s sister) design company Saint Heron, surprised people with a futuristic collaboration between the singer-songwriter with the Swedish home furnishings company IKEA to produce a custom product line.

So what’s in the Solange x Ikea collaboration? According to the elusive Twitter post, it is set to explore “architectural and design objects with multifunctional use.” To be honest we’re not entirely sure what this means. A multi-functional bed? Chairs with built in desks? Who knows but we’re certain it’s going to be genius.

Even though there’s very little information so far, Twitter is already excited:

Stay tuned for more info!

Harry and Meghan’s royal tour sounds just like your dream holiday

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle We’re in the middle of 2018 and so far the only thing we’re certain about is that boy, we wish we had married royal. Harry and Meghan have been having a hell of a year following their engagement news, the wedding of the year, the birth of their nephews, houses for gifts, cottages (that look more like castles) to call home and don’t get us started on Meghan’s glorious new wardrobe.

As if that wasn’t enough to make us jealous, the couple is now embarking on a work trip – that sounds more like the holiday of our dreams. Taking to social media to break the news, Kensington Palace publicly stated: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand in the Autumn 🇦🇺🇫🇯🇹🇴🇳🇿The tour will fall on the occasion of @InvictusSydney 2018.”

(Don’t you love that the Kensington Palace is using emojis?)

Yes, the newlyweds are heading to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand. The trip will take place this fall and will coincide with the Invictus Games in Sydney from 20th-27th October.

The full statement explains that the duo was invited by the countries themselves to grace them with their royal presence (what is life?!). It reads:

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will undertake an official visit to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and New Zealand in the Autumn. Their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit the Realms of Australia and New Zealand by the countries’ respective governments. The Duke and Duchess will visit the Commonwealth countries of Fiji and Tonga at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.”

Watch this spot for images. Mostly because we can’t wait to see them. This will be *great*.’

Louis Tomlinson’s father has been diagnosed with cancer, just 18 months after his mother’s death

Louis TomlinsonJust 18 months after Louis Tomlinson’s mother, Johannah Deakin, passed away after battling cancer, his father has spoken of his own liver cancer diagnosis.

Speaking to The Sun, Troy Austin, 49, confirmed he’s had a tumour removed, in hopes that the surgery has saved his life.

He said, “I believe my tumour was down to drinking and smoking. I can’t blame it on anything else…Some days I wouldn’t eat at all but would just drink and smoke. I would drink to celebrate the good times and drink to cope with the bad. Whatever life threw at me I would drink.”

The One Direction star hasn’t spoken to his father for around five years – Troy split with Louis’s mum when the singer was a week old.

Louis’s mother sadly passed away in December of 2016, just days before Louis was due to perform his new single on The X Factor final. The singer bravely took to the stage for an emotional performance, gaining masses of praise from viewers.

At the time of her death, the family released a heartbreaking statement.

“It is with immeasurable sadness that Johannah Deakin’s family said goodbye to Johannah in the early hours of Wednesday, December 7,” the family said in a statement at the time.

“Earlier this year Johannah was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukaemia that required immediate and continuous treatment.

“Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children whose individual talents and success are a testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them.”

We wish Troy all the best with his treatment.

‘It changes you’: Tristan Thompson discusses baby true for the first time

Tristan Thompson cheating Khloe KardashianKhloé Kardashian welcomed a baby girl in April, something many fans will know has been a dream of hers for a really long time. Amid the happy news though, rumours and videos began circulating that her partner, Tristan Thompson had cheated on her multiple times.

The pair has been spotted on multiple outings recently, sparking rumours that they’re giving the relationship another go. Now, Tristan’s spoken out about becoming a father-of-two for the first time.

Speaking on the podcast, Road Trippin‘, he said: “Prince is getting big, jumping on a little trampoline and baby True is eating, sleeping and, uh, sh*ttin’. That’s all they do. That’s all they do.”

He went on to explain how different it is, being a dad to a little girl: “Yeah, I think with a girl, you’re just so much more emotionally like… With a boy, it’s just like, “Hey, man. You’ll be alright, man. Stop crying.” But [with True], it’s like, “True, it’s gonna be OK. You know, we’re right here. Daddy’s here to feed you. It’s me! Look, yeah!” It’s way different, but it’s fun, though. It changes you.”

A source told E! News that the couple hopes to work through their problems. They said,

“Khloe has given Tristan another chance at their relationship and is trying to put the pieces back together for the sake of True. Although she is crushed by the scandal, Khloe desperately wants things to work and wants to have a complete family.”

Despite this being the first time Tristan’s spoken out on the matter, a couple of members of the family have spoken out about the situation, with the most recent being the matriarch of the family, Kris Jenner.

This black Barbie doll’s cornrows are sparking controversy on social media

There’s no arguing that Barbies have improved when it comes to inclusivity, as we’re no longer only seeing the same straight-sized, blonde, white dolls that were first introduced in the late 1950s. Now, we have Barbies that are representative of different shapes, sizes, and skin tones, which is certainly a step in the right direction. However, Mattel just released its latest rendition of the iconic toy — and a lot of people are not happy with it. The reason? The black doll’s hairstyle.

Posted to Barbie’s style Instagram, the doll in question is shown wearing a half head of black cornrows and a blonde curly weave next to two white dolls wearing their hair in ponytails. “Movie night with my girls to watch the @Hulu premiere of the new @Barbie documentary,” reads the caption.

People were very quick to comment on the photo with their feelings, most of which expressed deep frustration over the doll’s hair. “Who’s bright idea was it to style the AA Barbie’s hair like that. All of these beautiful brown women in all industries, you couldn’t find ONE to look to for hair inspiration? You need to remove her and start from scratch IMMEDIATELY!!” wrote one user. “Maybe some have worn this style but it doesn’t represent the majority,” and “the Black Barbie hairstyle is horrid,” are just a few of countless comments that derided the look.

Others didn’t seem to take issue with Black Barbie’s look. “There are other black dolls on this same page with different hairstyles that represent how folks choose to wear their hair,” one commenter said. “The hypersensitivity and the ‘ready to pop off’ is on display.”
Another user echoed the sentiment, noting that the black Barbie dolls on the Instagram page had a wide range of hairstyles representative of how some black women choose to wear their hair. “@barbiestyle [has] dolls to fit all different types of women. You act as if you have never seen a black woman wear their hair braided on the side with curls or weave on the other side. They didn’t just pull this hairstyle out the sky this is a hairstyle that some black women wear.” Though the user did note that she wasn’t particularly a fan of the color of the hair.

Still, the general consensus was negative, so time will tell if Mattel takes that into consideration in the future.

Basketball fans chanted ‘Khloé!’ during Tristan Thompson’s game last night

TristanI hate all sports, but there’s one basketball game I’m livid I didn’t attend: the Toronto Raptors–Cleveland Cavaliers match on Tuesday night (May 1), where people started chanting Khloé Kardashian’s name to throw off Tristan Thompson.

Tristan, if you don’t know, is a power forward for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He’s also Khloé Kardashian’s boyfriend who reportedly cheated on her just days before she gave birth to their daughter, True. Kim Kardashian more or less confirmed this on The Ellen DeGeneres show last week when she said Khloé’s doing “the best she can” and that her situation is just “so fucked up.” Regardless of the truth, though, fans are using this story as a way to throw off Thompson’s basketball performance—and that’s the kind of petty drama I live for.

So here’s what happened. Right before Thompson shot his free throws in the playoff game against the Raptors last night, a wave of people in the crowd began shouting, “Khloé! Khloé! Khloé!” But did the intimidation work? Not exactly: Thompson made his throws, and the Cavs ultimately won the game 113–112. Watch this go down for yourself, below:

Win or lose, Twitter is cheering for these (apparently) TMZ-obsessed sports fans. And I am too. Had I known I could talk celebrity gossip at a basketball game, I would’ve attended way more. Here are some hilarious responses to the drama that we found:

This is almost as good as when someone brought a “We love Khloé” sign to a Cavs game last month.

Khloé hasn’t commented on this situation yet, but something tells me she’ll have millions of people in her corner when she does. And they’ll chant for her loudly.
