Robert Marawa and SABC end dispute

Robert Marawa is headed back to SABC.

Legendary broadcaster Robert Marawa is officially headed to back to SABC Radio. Marawa who was involved in a contractual dispute with the broadcaster for a while now, confirmed today that the battle is over. “I see this as a continuation of a journey with the SABC and one that shows commitment from the leadership of the public broadcaster in fulfilling its public service mandate. This high level of support is important to me in delivering the kind of quality show that the listener deserves, and with the historic simulcast option, we hope rush-hour traffic frustrations will be a thing of the past,’ explains Marawa.

Marawa and SABC resolved the issue amicably and he will be back doing a sports show that will air simultaneously on Metro FM and Radio 2000 between 18h00 and 20h00 on weekdays.

”All contractual issues between the organisation and Mr Marawa have been resolved amicably and the SABC looks forward to having Mr Marawa back on board once again to deliver another dose of award-winning sports programming, as we grow our audiences and fulfill our mandate as a public service broadcaster,” SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said in a statement earlier today.

The legal battle had started after there were complains and questions about the legitimacy of his million rands a year contract by Chief Operating Officer, Chris Maroleng. The issue is now resolved.

We are looking forward to having Marawa back on our airwaves.
